Vaccines for Children- Protecting Flagler County’s Children Every Day

From the Flagler County Health Department

To help ensure that all children in Flagler County have a chance of getting their recommended Immunizations on schedule, the Florida Department of Health-Flagler will once again present their “Back to School Rush” NO COST clinic. The goal of the effort is healthier children, families, and communities. All students of Flagler County deserve the right to return to the classroom safely, which means catching up on missed Immunizations. The clinic will take place starting July 25 and continuing through August 12, 2022 Monday-Friday 8:30AM to 10:30AM and 1:00PM to 3:00PM.

“At the Health Department, we empathize with parents and know that coordinating summertime activities can be tough. That is why we dedicate two weeks yearly to school-age immunizations, allowing families to schedule easily”, said Bob Snyder, Health Officer for the Florida Department of Health in Flagler County. “There isn’t anything we wouldn’t do to see that the students of Flagler County stay safe and healthy”.

This FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE process is as follows:

The Department has constructed a 2 step process and requires clients to have all documents with them upon arrival, and be up to date. If Department of Health Staff must request additional documentation from medical providers, please know that the process could take more time. To help make the process go quickly, please follow the steps below:

1. Bring all up to date immunization records for all persons needing services in your family. Bring them with you to the Florida Department of Health-Flagler located at 301 Dr. Carter Blvd in Bunnell during the specified times.

2. As the Guardian or Parent, bring a State issued Photo ID.

3. Bring your Insurance or Medicaid Card (if applicable)

Once your documentation is collected by Department of Health Staff, you will have completed the first step. At this point, you can expect to receive a phone call within 24-48 hours where you will be scheduled for an appointment to return for the Immunizations that are required/needed for each of your students.

Please remember, children who are new residents to Flagler County and those entering kindergarten and 7th grade may need certain Immunizations to comply with district requirements.

Upon arrival at the Department of Health, we kindly ask our visitors to consider wearing a face mask. During the "Back to School Rush," COVID vaccinations will not be scheduled and are not included as part of the Immunization series. Clients are encouraged to schedule COVID vaccinations after August 22, 2022.

School-age Immunizations are offered free of charge through the federally funded Vaccines for Children program. In addition, the health department will seek parental consent to provide in-school clinics for influenza this fall and Tdap shots for sixth graders in the spring. Adolescent vaccines recommended by the CDC and the American Association of Pediatrics – Meningococcal, and HPV – are also available at the health department.
