The Goal of the Community Redevelopment Agency
The Goal of the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is to work with the Commission, CRA Board, Committee, Staff, Business owners and Residents in revitalizing the downtown area to include preserving our history, beautification and supporting existing businesses as well as encouraging new opportunities.
CRA visioning and action plan: The City of Bunnell was incorporated in 1913. The City is the Flagler County seat. Bunnell is rich in history and has been able to maintain its sense of uniqueness while growing. Currently, the City is the second largest in landmass in the State of Florida. Bunnell is home to approximately 2,750 residents.
The City of Bunnell began the process to establish a CRA within its City limits in 2004. The City Commission was committed to revitalizing its core downtown and ensuring that as the City grew through annexations and development to the outskirts of the core downtown, the County Seat would remain vibrant and not decay as many downtowns do when development occurs. The Commission, as well as the community felt that the creation of the CRA was in the best interest of the City and created a CRA Advisory Committee to begin the process. Many meetings and public input took place over the period of 2004 and 2006.
The goal of the CRA is to support businesses with the CRA.
The CRA Board meets annually in the Board Chambers of the Municipal Complex located at 201 W. Moody Blvd. Bldg 3 Bunnell, FL 32110. Check the Agendas section of this website for current agenda and for notices.
CRA Advisory Committee
Although inactive at this time, the City of Bunnell created an ad-hoc advisory committee to help the City Commission in the creation of the CRA. The purpose and duties of the Advisory Board include, but are not be limited to the following: to consider and make recommendations to the Agency concerning the Redevelopment Plan and amendments to the Redevelopment Plan; to review the proposed annual work program for the Redevelopment Area, make recommendations to the Agency concerning such program and its implementation, and recommend project priorities to the Agency; to propose incentives to further the redevelopment efforts in the Redevelopment Area and carry out and effectuate the purposes and provisions of the Redevelopment Act; to consider any matters referred to the Advisory Board by the Agency; and to receive comments from members of the public interested in redevelopment of the specific Area and report such information to the Agency.
