Fraud Awareness for City Customers and other Stakeholders

The City of Bunnell is committed to protecting City customers, development applicants  and other stakeholders who may received invoices for services from the City to be aware scammers may attempt to impersonate city officials using fake city logos, emails and letterhead with the intent to steal your money and information.
 
Important Safeguards
• All legitimate City fees follow a clearly defined payment process. These will be explained or provided when you initiate your service request with the City.
• The City does not accept wire transfers.
• Payments are made once you receive a valid City-issued invoice from your City staff point of contact.
• Follow the clearly defined process outlined in any application or City provided invoice to pay your fees.
 
Protect Yourself
If you ever receive a payment request which:
• Appears inconsistent with City procedures in the clearly defined process, or;
• Requests payment through nonstandard means, or;
• Raises any concern or uncertainty;
THEN, 
• Pause and verify before acting or sending any payment.  When in doubt, always confirm directly with the City before submitting payment.  
 
Call (386) 437-7500 to speak to the invoicing department or contact your known City point of contact at their number to ask about any invoice sent by the City.  Report fraud attempts to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
