Bernadette Fisher is a highly motivated professional who is now serving as the Director of the City of Bunnell’s Department of Community Development. The City Commission officially confirmed her on May 23, 2022. Through this confirmation, she will be able to use her twenty-plus years of experience in professional planning, growth management, economic development, and leadership to effectively and efficiently manage a diverse team within the Planning, Zoning, Building, and Code Enforcement divisions.

However, Fisher is transitioning from managing specific projects to secure entitlements for several hundred thousand square feet of new retail, office, industrial and residential development back to the public sector as she transitions into her leadership role.

As a leader of Bunnell’s development department, she will combine her extensive industry knowledge, professional experience, pleasant demeanor, and forward-looking mentality with the right mix for the city’s future.

Bernadette is honored and delighted to have the opportunity to serve as the Community Development Director for the City of Bunnell. Her goal is to establish relationships with City team members, community members, and development industry members to focus on collaborative planning and development for the well-known “Crossroads of Flagler,” better known as the City of Bunnell, Florida.

In Bernadette’s years of gaining professional experience in Planning, Zoning, Redevelopment Comprehensive Planning, Permitting and Enforcing adopted Policies and Regulations, her previous experience includes a span of work in both the public and private sectors. She performed this work for the City of Lake Wales and Polk County, Florida; City/Parish of Lafayette, Louisiana; the Construction Firm of Tom Cat’s Construction LLC; also Engineering and Land Use Planning firms, which entails Morris Engineering LLC, and Neu Consulting LLC.

As a planner with over 20 years of experience, Bernadette brings a wealth of problem-solving skills, a long history of managing a complex regulatory environment, and hands-on knowledge of growing land use challenges. Throughout her career, Bernadette Fisher has dedicated herself to serving the public and know assisting the community in shaping the fabric of Bunnell. Having Bernadette on board will benefit Bunnell residents and businesses as the City works to revitalize and improve housing opportunities, expand local businesses, and streamline the application and permitting process for developers.

In this role, Bernadette and her team not only manage the day-to-day operations of the Growth Management activities of the City of Bunnell but also work intimately with the City’s Administrators, Boards, Committees, Residences, and the Development Industry to apply forward thinking by forecasting and developing strategies on ensuring not only the community’s land growth viability but how the “Crossroads of Flagler”, better known as the City of Bunnell can lead the charge in changing the landscape that is the Community’s growth success.

As a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University, Bernadette Fisher has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Business Research. In addition to her involvement with the American Planning Association/Florida Chapter/Louisiana Chapter, she is also involved with the Florida Redevelopment Association.
