Local Business Tax Receipts

The Local Business Tax Receipt (LBTR) is imposed for the privilege of doing business in the City of Bunnell. Anyone that engages in any type of business within the City limits is required to have a City of Bunnell Local Business Tax Receipt.

The Local Business Tax Receipt is valid from October 1st through September 30th and must be renewed annually.

The City of Bunnell has fixed Business Tax fees as established by the City Commissioners. These fees are attached to a classification that would describe your business. The fee for new Local Business Tax Receipts issued from April 1st through September 30th is one-half the regular annual license tax.

If you are planning to start a new business in the City of Bunnell, please refer to the application instructions and complete the LBTR Application (see link on right).

Please feel free to contact the City Clerk's Office for assistance or to turn in your completed LBTR application.

State regulated businesses:

If your business is regulated by the State of Florida, you will be required to provide a copy of your State license with your LBTR Application. For a complete listing of occupations that require state certification, you may visit www.myfloridalicense.com/DBPR/businesses-and-professions/.

If you are a state-certified contractor AND you have a LBTR from your home county in Florida, you may do business across the State of Florida without paying for another LBTR. However, you will still need to register with the City of Bunnell. You will need to provide a copy the LBTR application, a copy of your home county/municipality LBTR, a copy of your State license, and copies of your workmen’s comp and liability insurance certificates.

Renewals:

Each business with a valid LBTR will receive a renewal notice from the City Clerk office via mail starting in July. Therefore, it is important each business ensures their mailing address with the City is accuracte.  It is the responsibility of the business owner to renew their LBTR each year whether they recieve a notice or not.

Receipts not renewed by September 30th become delinquent and are subject to a penalty of 10% for the month of October and an additional 5% for each month of delinquency thereafter until January 1st. However, the total delinquency penalty may not exceed 25% of the tax for the delinquent establishment.

Changes in Business Name, Location, Mailing address, Contact information or Owner:

It is the responsibility of the business owner to keep all information concerning their LBTR accurate. A 10% fee will apply to changes being made to the business name, location or owner. There is no fee to update business contact information such as a phone number, e-mail address or mailing address; however requests to update contact information must be submitted in writing to the City Clerk Office either by e-mail, fax, or a letter.
