Stormwater Information

For those with City of Bunnell water/sewer utility accounts

September 27, 2022 - It is important for those with City of Bunnell water/sewer to be aware of possible impacts of water during the upcoming storm.  Because of recent rainfalls in the past week, the ground is already saturated. As a result, water cannot and will not move as quickly as you would prefer.

Please keep the following in mind while we prepare and during the storm:
1. City staff are already doing assessments to the City's stormwater system, canals, swales and culverts; whatever can be cleaned out, is being cleaned out.
2. To report drainage blockages during normal business hours while City offices are open, call (386) 437-7515.  City Offices are open until 4:00 PM Wednesday, September 28, 2022.
3. To report drainage blockages after hours, but not during the storm, call (386) 931-1216.
4. To report damage after the storm, utilize the Emergency Operation Center Call Center number.  This will allow for City staff to get all reports through the official channels and storm reporting documentation methods established.

For safety please keep the following in mind:
  • During the storm please minimize the usage of sinks, toilets, dishwashers, washing machines and showers/tubs. If the City does receive the forecasted 7-15” of rain there will be nowhere for the waste water to go.
  • Do not open clean-out caps to aid in draining of water in the yard.
  • 7 to15 inches of rain, as anticipated, will flood ditches and swales above the City wastewater manholes. It is with this concern in mind, the City strongly discourages residents from allowing children to play in the stormwater created by Hurricane Ian.
