New Police Chief to be Confirmed

Bunnell, FL (February 21, 2022) – In accordance with the City Charter, City Manager Alvin B. Jackson, Jr, will be requesting approval of the appointment of David Brannon II to the position of Bunnell Police Chief at the February 28, 2022 City Commission Meeting.

A panel comprised of the City Manager, City Finance Director and Chief David Williams from the Flagler County Sheriff Office interviewed applicants this month. Following the interviews, City Manager Jackson determined David Brannon II would provide the best knowledge, skills and fit for the City of Bunnell.

Chief Brannon has degrees from Warner University and the University of Louisville. He has 26 years of service with the Volusia County Sheriff Office; some of those years being the command for District 4 which included the City of Deltona and provided experience very similar to that of a Police Chief for a City. He has overseen a department of 80 deputy sheriffs, been involved in contract management and supports the need for community engagement between law enforcement, a City and its citizens. Chief Brannon strives for positive, cooperative and trusting relationships between all branches of government and those its serves and is committed to the Rotary Club principal of Service Above Self.

According to City Manager Jackson, “Chief Brannon’s passion for law enforcement and being a motivating, collaborative and servant leader were clear throughout the process. He is the type of leader needed for a Police Department on the verge of making several positive, forward-looking changes in the next several years.”

If confirmed by the City Commission at the February 28th Meeting, Chief Brannon will also be sworn in that night and be ready to assume his duties the following day. The Bunnell City Commission meets in the Chambers of the Government Services Building located at 1769 East Moody Boulevard, Bunnell, FL 32110 at 7:00 PM.
